Support

As the New Year dawns and resolutions with it, many people adopt the intention of giving their time, treasure, or talent in support of others. In fact, resolutions like volunteering, charity work, and raising money for charity all made it onto last year’s researched lists of top resolutions.

While this reveals a heartwarming side of humanity, we all know that need does not limit itself to a particular moment in time. This is part of the reason we’re so appreciative of the many incredible initiatives that tap into the uniting power of food to show support to refugees, asylum-seekers, and immigrants—all year long.

Today, we’re ringing in 2023 by celebrating and highlighting

  • USA Hello
  • Beautiful Day Granola
  • An eggplant curry recipe

Resolve to Eat for Good

No matter how big your heart is for supporting refugees, asylees, and immigrants, if you don’t begin helping in some specific, meaningful way, you’ll have little impact. Beautiful Day Granola understands this need clearly.

With its focus on job training and education, Beautiful Day provides definitive, practical support—on multiple levels. (And in the process, they make delicious granola, coffee, and more.)

Here’s how they describe their approach:

Beautiful Day helps refugees adjust to life in America by offering paid, on-the-job training. Every job in our company is designed to be part of a hands-on classroom where trainees gain critical skills and the confidence to enter the job market. At the same time, our award-winning products educate consumers about the refugee crisis. Every purchase, every bite or sip, provides a practical way to get involved with human displacement and start building more informed, welcoming communities.

Real-life support and inspiration in one delicious package.

Resolve to Eat More Veggies

Eat Offbeat provides support through employment, hiring “immigrants and refugees from around the world to prepare homestyle meals evoking their native cuisines.”

And now, any home chef anywhere can get a taste of that goodness. Featuring dishes from Syria to Venezuela, the Kitchen Without Borders cookbook collects many of the best Eat Offbeat recipes.

And as if the food wasn’t enticing enough, for every copy sold, a donation is made to support the International Rescue Committee (IRC).
